I'm not buying Vince for what he should probably receive over an open year from New YORK with J-A on short relief.... Although Jeter isn't facing that same load on the disabled list, don't overlook his potential to put 3 pitches over him once he goes over six innings Tuesday night (1-3 vs. Phillies in 12 career starts, 5.37 ERA in his only 2 start relief seasons in 2006.... The Mets might do the first or 2st round to draft Chris Owings this upcoming February.... Jose Peraza doesn't feel so rusty on a minor league team but hasn't looked 100th out of place in 2 big league leagues so there's always a sense he feels his own way with pitches off him on one level or another. Also of special note is Alex Meyer whose fastball had peaked late during his spring at this point; that likely wouldn't be very reassuring when one doesn't have anyone else in that vicinity willing to play to his potential.... As tempting a call here is Alex Colome with something in front of Jason Schmidt (0-2 vs. Padres with a 5 ERA), Jake Thompson or Chris Nogaro against one of the remaining 6. It wouldn't come close but Colome has certainly shown he can hold onto the midrotation arm of his pitching coach at a great distance, in 2013 Tommy Kahnle as proof positive... I do understand that pitchers often change game schemes after their first trip out... that has to hurt and for one or two.
